Command fails to execute during installation of Brave Browser on Ubuntu 20.04
I didn't use Snap to set it up. It worked fine. That means I'm all set now. Thanks!
You must turn off the repository again. Keeping it broken limits your capacity to make updates.
The system you're using is preventing access to Amazon Web Services. Refer to the documentation at http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trus...onf.5.html for instructions on redirecting APT requests via a proxy. After setting up a proxy for apt, it's suggested to revert to the pre-packaged version of Brave, as using the snap version conflicts with the original intent of Brave.
They provide both options, but for true privacy, consider using a browser instead.
Generally, most people using snaps don’t realize they might have malware or that their device could be used to mine cryptocurrency for others (https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/...ntu_snaps/). While Canonical has control over snaps, your privacy is reduced and hardware control is lost. There’s essentially no public oversight of snaps.
Malware occasionally sneaks into apt repositories as well. Plus, Brave is a closed source product anyway, so, no matter how they package it, there is a chance it's doing something you don't want it to. I really don't like it when people hate on snaps for "political" reasons and then start making up nonsense arguments on why snaps are bad.
