Command fails to execute during installation of Brave Browser on Ubuntu 20.04
I adjusted the steps and tried again. The issue might be with the network connection or the keyring file. Double-check your internet connection and ensure the keyring is correctly installed. If problems persist, verify the URL and permissions.
The command refers to listing files in the specified directory. The GPG file you need to download is present there.
the brave archive isn't available. After entering the curl command, the cursor stays active and does nothing afterward. Previously, i could easily install software with just curl, but now it's causing issues.
I found the problem, but after checking Brave’s support page, I encountered another error. The issue is that I’m using V2RAY as my VPN and switched the proxy from SOCKS4 to SOCKS5. How can I tell Curl to use SOCKS5 instead? I’ve had similar issues with Git too—I changed the config like this: git config --global http.proxy 'socks5:127.0.0.1:10808'. Should I switch my system’s proxy from SOCKS4 to SOCKS5, or is there another way? Need more help.
I adjusted my curl command to make it function properly. I redirected it through a proxy server. Now it works too. Additionally, the same command operates successfully. I also added a line to include the keyring in the list. After that, viewing /usr/share/keyrings shows brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg. However, when I run apt update, it consistently fails to retrieve Brave from the repository…
Ashley, please review this situation I encountered. Let me know if you can spare some time. Thank you! I also noticed your comments in the Linux challenge post, so I wanted to follow up.
ran it locally and everything functioned properly. attached the download file for reference, just relocate it to /usr/share/keyrings/ then proceed with the commands you provided after the curl section. Shifting the file I included will achieve the same result. brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg
I received the file correctly and it was in the right folder. After running sudo apt update, the update failed because apt couldn't fetch the Brave software from the cloud. The download speed was around 35k, but it stopped, showing warnings. Refer to your previous post for more details.
It's a tough situation, but definitely worth tackling the software and updates. Disabling that repository will stop further updates from happening.
