Choose between an Intel i5-9600K or a Ryzen 5 3600 based on your needs.
I'm planning to upgrade my PC and need advice on choosing a CPU. The i5 9600K costs $214, while the Ryzen 5 3600 is $221. Some sources say the i5 is better, others claim the Ryzen is superior. I’ll be pairing it with an RX 570, so your help would be really appreciated!
If you haven’t got a motherboard yet and are open to spending around 220 dollars, I suggest the 10600k or 3700x for about 290 dollars. The 9600k only offers six threads while the 3600 usually costs 175 dollars. https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-5-3600/...ription=r5 3600&cm_re=r5_3600-_-19-113-569-_-Product&quicklink=true https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-3700x...klink=true https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i5-106...klink=true if your monitor runs at 60 hz, go for the 3600
The 10400 offers a slight discount compared to the Ryzen 5 3600. Consider getting the i5 10400 if it fits your needs.
I secured my 3600 for $175, making it an even better deal compared to the $200 price. It's a great find—strongly suggest getting one. My stock temps were slightly higher than expected, so I went with a Wraith Spire 95W from the first Ryzen lineup; it functions flawlessly.
You're in Canada, and the cost is 221 USD there. In America, New Egg lists it at around 175 USD, but it's disappointing since you're from Canada.
