LGA2011 components remain costly, and I wouldn’t think about changing to a setup with 3820 right away. With your existing 7600K and RAM, simply add a graphics card.

For Unreal Engine 4 projects, the 7600K is recommended alongside the 3070 Ti, paired with a compatible GPU.

I wouldn't recommend either option. This decision came from that particular line in your message. One is a 10-year-old HEDT board using the most affordable CPU available for that socket. The other is a 5-year-old quad-core processor without SMT and lacking a clear upgrade route. I’d suggest opting for an AM4 or LGA1200 platform. One is completely unnecessary, while the other saves some resources.

I’d pick the bullet first. The second option would be LGA2011, but I’d definitely avoid the 3820.

Check if the current motherboard supports upgrading CPUs. Older CPUs tend to be affordable since compatible boards are often limited, leading to many available options.

This seems like a casual take on your setup, but it looks like you're going with a 2400G in a living room PC. In fact, having even a Zen 1 chip there could likely beat both the 3820 and 7600K when working with multiple threads for UE4 development. Sandy Bridge E was decent back then, but it's starting to feel outdated, and the 7600K isn't really strong enough for multithreaded tasks. Personally, I’d switch the 2400G to my main machine and use the 7600K in the living room. The extra cores from the 2400G might still shine even on slower hardware, especially if you boost it. That said, I’m not really familiar with your exact project, so this is mostly an educated guess based on what I know about these processors. You’ll need to test it out to be sure. The 7600K should probably handle single-thread tasks better than the 2400G, though not much at full speed. If you push it, it might get about 15% faster per core, but it won’t close the multithread gap because of the lack of hyperthreading. I’m sure you’ll need to confirm this with real-world testing.
