I purchased two RAM modules, each 8 GB, from AliExpress. The ad claims a speed of 3200 MHz, but my motherboard (ASUS B450M) automatically lowers them to 2600 MHz by default. There’s an "xmp profile" setting that raises the frequency to 3200 MHz. Should I worry about damaging my data, what impact does this have on performance, and should I keep the lower speed?

Technically it shifts from around 0.0001% to 0.0002%. The chance of damage is extremely minimal, making the impact almost irrelevant in practice. It depends on the CPU and how memory bandwidth affects performance. Some processors might see a 2-3% boost, others up to 10-15%. Regardless, turn on XMP for guaranteed gains—performance improvement with no real risk to hardware.

5600x would fall near the lower range, approximately 5-7%, yet enabling XMP is still recommended regardless.

2666 MT/s comes with the default load. The claimed rate is activated by applying the XMP/DOCP profile, which leads to a significant boost in performance. Reaching 3200 MT/s is not unusually fast and doesn't pose any damage to components unless it operates at very high voltages.

This boost mainly speeds up loading times rather than raising the overall frames per second in gameplay.

It may boost performance and cut down on wait times. Staying at 2666 MT/s isn't necessary unless there are stability issues.
