Checking if the new CPU works with your system. Inquiry about compatibility issues.
Hey there! It sounds like your CPU might be damaged. Your machine powers on briefly before shutting down and getting stuck in a loop, with no screen visible. You've already tested various RAM configurations and tried resetting the CMOS battery, but nothing resolved it. It could definitely be a CPU issue, though a motherboard problem isn't impossible either. You're considering upgrading from your Ryzen 5 1600 to a 3600, and you're wondering if this works with your ASRock B350 Pro4 without needing a BIOS update. Let me know if you need more clarity!
Are you free in those 20 seconds to explore the BIOS and see which version you're running? Honestly, it doesn’t seem like a hardware problem. If the processor were stopped, you wouldn’t notice those 10-20 seconds; it would just fail to start altogether.
It looked like PSU at first, but I’m not sure. I can test it on a friend’s system and maybe find an older one too.
You might want to switch to a different PSU, it won't cause any issues either way.
I’m not sure about the PSU, but RoseWill doesn’t seem to have positive feedback... consider getting a PSU from another PC or a friend to test. If it still doesn’t work, it could be an issue with the motherboard.
