Occasionally bent pins can cause poor connection or weak contact in the socket. I removed the CPU, verified again for bent pins, and adjusted them carefully. This problem occurred with a Ryzen 1300. I had to reposition the CPU in the socket twice initially, then tried straightening the pins once more, which resolved the issue.
I've tried several times but the pins aren't aligning properly... I watched a Jay-Z tutorial, but I'm not sure I can fix them myself. Maybe I should go buy a new CPU instead.
Hey, I didn't see that before. Capture a photo of the cover and the CPU. It seems unlikely the heat spreader is missing, but better safe than sorry. Show us what you found. If it's just the heat spreader, inspect the CPU die for any signs of damage. If not damaged, place the CPU back into the socket, apply non-conductive thermal paste, then reattach the heat spreader. Finally, put the cooler on top.
