I purchased this refurbished 1050 Ti in 2020. It's experiencing thermal throttling to over 80°C now. I attempted a repasting fix and cleared out the side panel to let hot air escape. Genshin runs smoothly even with throttling, but Overwatch is problematic after just ten minutes. Usually I see 110+ FPS, but it plummets to 65-75 whenever the GPU hits 80°C+. If performance is important, my system specs are: CPU i3-12100f, GPU ZOTAC 1050 Ti, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, and an Asus Prime H610M-E motherboard. Thanks for the advice!
Do you notice real frequency reductions at 80°C? It's plausible, though if the fans are running at their rated speed it would be unlikely.
Sure! Would you like me to help you set up a stress test for the GPU and monitor the fan speed?
I just checked the frequency during the game and saw the GPU running at about 900MHz when temperatures hit over 80°C.
The GPU fan speed increases quickly when under load. You can see this using MSI Afterburner before switching to Fan Control. Updated on April 12, 2024 by leclod.
Could you clarify if the issue lies with uneven tightening of the fasteners?
In the worst situation, you can simply use the basic zip method—it generally performs better that way.
