This video might clarify my argument better. It seems Prime95 improved performance significantly, reaching up to 100% and handling 105W TDP while keeping temperatures around 90°C during heavy use. However, is this truly the ideal scenario for the Noctua NH-D14? It was originally priced near $100 at the time of purchase! Usually, this cooler should easily support overclocking this CPU.

you put glitter on your rams!? that's the trick? brb! ps: here's how i do my zen any computer parts, looks the same to me (minus the glitter obviously)?~ my temps are lower, my cooler is smaller (u12s) @freeagent temps are even lower... that's not how any of this works, it depends on several factors, as said, but the point is, ops temps are still "normal operating" temps. probably needs to rebuild the whole thing if they want lower temps, for some reason, and it obviously also depends on ambient temps! otherwise yes, its "normal"... you shoulda seen my 3600! way more "trigger happy" sometimes even using up to 125w and all i did was fiddle a bit with pbo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
because zen 3 represents a totally different architecture, even though it shares the same name and platform, 1700x remains a very basic and outdated layout. it doesn’t make sense to rely on a 95w configuration for such a low-end processor—this is unrealistic for modern CPUs (though it might have worked back then). honestly, the first-gen Ryzen models didn’t last long and can’t be properly compared to newer generations.
ps: tdp isn’t the absolute maximum temperature; it’s just a guideline reference. As I mentioned earlier, my "65w tdp" 3600 sometimes ran around 125w while staying cool (about 75-80°C max, usually 60-70°C). My 5800x3D also occasionally exceeds "tdp," but it doesn’t really affect my daily experience.
what matters most to me is whether the system runs quietly and performs as expected—not just the numbers from monitoring tools. Since the 5800X3D is so reliable, I stopped worrying about these details and just upgraded my motherboard and CPU. I didn’t even need a cooler upgrade; u12s should handle these low-power builds fine compared to Intel CPUs.
I believe I discovered something. The cooler was installed correctly, but I redirected the fan direction toward the back of the case. I also opened the side panel. Now we're checking temperatures under 30 °C. LOL? It looks like the whole PC isn't getting enough airflow. Even though the case is brand new, it seems the cooling isn't sufficient for a 5800X. Usually I keep my processor for over six years and don't want to shorten its life by running it at high temperatures. That's why I often purchase larger cooling solutions. This means I won't have to worry about it again. @all Current ambient temps are between 18-22°C, no problems here!
I started with a 3600XT and initially doubted PBO's value. I tested it at a fixed 4500MHz. With the 5600X, it behaved more like an Intel design rather than older Zen models. These older coolers didn't perform well with these parts. Running my Le Grand Macho RT on 4500MHz without a fan made a big difference. The 3600XT allowed me to keep it at 4500MHz on the Le Grand Macho RT, while the new setup required more effort. Even with a TY-143 added, the LGMRT was a strong cooler back then.
