idle readings don't tell the whole story. they're more influenced by your fan settings than by the actual temperature inside the cooler. my 5800x runs around 43°C under an NH-D15, but the fans don’t actually slow down much during idle. I’ve seen Zen3 react strongly to short bursts of load, causing a quick spike in temps. Once that peak passes, various factors—drivers, background software—can mess with idle temperatures. If full-load temps look normal, I’d skip digging into those details.

The 5800x offers greater thermal capacity and is less straightforward to chill. It also increases performance more strongly. Temperatures remain typical and acceptable.

Within the higher range of expected idle temps, you might consider increasing the CPU cooler fan speed from 5% to around 10%. My GPU tends to idle between 55-60°C, which is quite high at its base setting—until you notice the zero-fan mode activated. Running fans continuously would likely bring idle below 50°C. Your CPU cooler likely has less thermal capacity compared to other tower or AIO coolers.

I own 5600X, 5900X, and 5800X3D models. They all perform better at lower temperatures. Still, if 50°C works, who am I to judge?
