You're looking into how different CPU models and configurations affect performance in GTA V. For your setup—Athlon 860K, R7 260X, i5, R7 260X, and 1080p with high settings—you're seeing 26-40 FPS in the city and 50-70 in the countryside. The GPU settings you mentioned (FXAA, no MSAA, 1150MHz clockspeed, 1518MHz memory clock) are typical for that level of performance. If you're experiencing bottlenecks, upgrading to an i5 4690K could help. Other users with similar configurations report comparable FPS ranges, though results can vary based on game load and system load.
Using an i5 allows you to play GTA V at high settings with around 50-60 frames per second, as shown by various sites and YouTube clips. The performance gap between the 860K and i5 3570K is about 30 fps in GTA V. A 260X card is quite capable. I’m thinking about switching forums since the current discussions don’t help much.
You're not likely to see huge gains. 260x still works well on older systems. GTA V is quite taxing. A new CPU probably won't boost performance much, but it won't reach top frame rates either. If you were me, I'd skip the 4690k and go with 4460+h81, saving for a GPU upgrade later.
I managed it, though I prefer getting 4690K and Z97 for a while longer. I’ll have funds for a new GPU by Christmas if I feel the need. The price gap isn’t huge.
