Thank you. I was quite worried, because a 3820 and GTX 760 aren't a great combination. I wondered if I'd face major performance issues, but the answer is no—though I might need a more powerful GPU.

Ignore that - it's useless. That's a random number generator.

This result comes from recalculating with the 3820 and a 980 Ti, which gave this outcome. The 980 Ti is significantly stronger than the 760, yet it still managed to reduce the bottleneck compared to what the site suggested. You should comfortably handle around 1070/1080 without major concerns about bottlenecks.

Thanks a lot. It seems like the i7-3820 and GTX 760 might work together, even though they’re not ideal. I’ll try them out for a while.

I shared this on a different discussion, but if you own an i7 3820 you should consider selling it and purchasing an Xeon e5 1650v1. The 3820 typically sells for $40-50 while the e5 1650 costs around $45. The benefit is that the e5 1650 offers six cores compared to four, giving you an additional two cores for just a small shipping or eBay fee.

Your 760 might be slowing down the 3820 a lot.

i'm concerned about potential delays, so i'll avoid issues here. upgrading the gpu later might help.

No issues. Allocate funds to the new GPU.

For maximum performance you can choose a Xeon E5-1680v2, which is the sole unlocked 8-core processor for the X79 line and generally affordable. It can also be combined with a 1080 Ti speed unit.

A bottleneck usually doesn’t cause physical pain, but many people overthink it. The most likely outcome is a small dip in GPU performance, such as with your GTX 760 affecting an i7-3820. If your CPU is slower (like a 2080 Ti or Titan RTX), a CPU bottleneck means you can’t boost FPS by lowering settings. A GPU bottleneck is better because you can tweak settings to get more frames.
