Check if your graphics card is functioning properly.
Hello everyone, I recently acquired a 2070Super second hand and suspect the card might be faulty. After installing it, stress tests showed normal performance—though during a CS:GO session I experienced frequent crashes without a clear pattern or cause. The system temperatures remained stable, and usage stayed around 30-40% on both GPU and CPU. Game frames appeared lower than expected, which initially disappointed me until the crashes started. This issue hasn’t occurred before with my older GPU (1060 6GB). When only one monitor was connected via HDMI from the GPU, the crash would freeze the PC; the reset button didn’t work—pressing the power button alone didn’t turn it off. With two monitors, the setup changed, but the same reset problem persisted. I suspect the card could be failing or damaged. I haven’t encountered crashes during regular browsing or media playback. The PC stayed on overnight without shutting down, so it doesn’t seem to crash randomly under load. In CS:GO, such crashes can happen after a few minutes to an hour. Once they occur, they tend to repeat every few minutes. I found a previous discussion online and feel this might be accurate. Thanks for your assistance. Snapchat-1954209421.mp4
I7-7700K placed on a ROG STRIX Z270H gaming board. I've never experienced crashes before, even when displays were connected in the same manner. The issue persisted without any cables attached to the motherboard—just the GPU and CS:GO would still fail.
Try this as a test. Open the BIOS, turn off Multi Monitor support, and assign the first display to PEG. Remove the second monitor from the motherboard and observe the results.
Notably the igpu multi-monitor feature was already turned off. I thought since I wasn’t using two monitors on the igpu, it wouldn’t matter because there was only one igpu and one dgpu. I’m uploading to cs now to check if it causes a crash when running on peg. Please reply in about an hour with an update. Added: another issue I’ve never experienced before is not responding during CSGO map or game loading, which wasn’t usual but now happens frequently. Edited April 25, 2022 by You_N_Me
The multi-monitor feature simply instructs the iGPU to activate and function as a secondary display. It doesn’t imply running two monitors through the iGPU. The next step is to navigate into settings and look for graphics configurations. Ensure CS:GO is configured to utilize the dGPU with one card inside; Windows should handle this now, though we’re aware it doesn’t always work perfectly.
Hey there, friend. Just had another crash while playing Valorant. It seems like the issue is still stuck at the GPU level. If it disappears when I swap in a different GPU, then the problem is likely the graphics card. You could try swapping in your 1060 and see if that fixes it. Also, testing on your wife's PC might help confirm whether it's a hardware or software issue.
