Windows 10 might work on your HP G62, but the older specs could cause issues. Check if the hardware supports the required updates and performance. Upgrading could improve stability and security.

It should perform better than version 7. Make sure to perform a clean installation or at least reset the system after upgrading to remove remnants of Windows 7.

They delete things after 30 days, which means it’s fine to keep the files for that period.

Yes, a fresh installation remains superior. Newer versions won’t always stay pristine, as registry and other files get messy. Upgrading Windows 10 is straightforward—just insert a USB drive and follow the prompts a few times without needing a product key.

You can perform a clean installation even without the activation code by using the official installation media or downloading the latest source code from the developer's website. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully during setup.

No, that's not correct. You should perform the upgrade first. After that, carry out a clean installation once the upgrade is complete, and simply ignore the keys. It will then activate automatically.

It should function properly; your child's performance at 10 on an HP Q6600 with 6GB RAM is normal.

In Windows 10, a common guideline is that performance improves by roughly doubling when the system reaches 7, then continues to increase significantly.

It's quite odd that w10 might perform better than w7 on older systems... But at least it will work. If that happens, you're in trouble... After moving from 7 to 10 (and enabling it), a fresh install becomes necessary, and once done, you can't revert back to w7 if you prefer w10. I recommend careful consideration before upgrading to w10... And then reassess... P.S.: You might want to prepare for a new key for w7...
