A bad RAM means it doesn’t work properly. It’s like a toy that won’t hold its place. The part number tells you what kind of RAM it is—here it’s CM K 8GX4. The photo shows the model, and the numbers mean the type, how many modules there are, and the update level. The module quantity is how many chips are in that set, and the revision is how updated or improved it is compared to earlier versions.
I noticed something important. I looked up online and discovered that many individuals in my country are receiving counterfeit rams that mimic real ones from brands like Corsair and Crucial. These products come from suppliers in China, Thailand, and other regions. The serial numbers and part numbers are often copied directly from the original rams. As mentioned in a discussion thread, scammers use special software to embed this data into the RAM, showing it through tools like CPU-Z or HWInfo. Below are the screenshots after updating the BIOS DOCP settings. Everything appears fine now? The RAM section in the control panel still displays 1200MHz, though.
In addition to the serial number, other details from the cpuz screenshots, the posted information, and the hwinfo data confirm it is an original RAM module. The cost of counterfeiting remains a significant factor for scammers, which may explain their continued activity. Regarding the BIOS settings you adjusted, no performance changes were observed, so reverting them might be a good idea.
As you can see from before and after it uses 2400mhz for both docp and auto. If you want to check for difference, check timings in hwinfo with both docp enabled and disabled. Use whatever uses the lowest timings (lowest numbers is faster) The reason why the motherboard is able to default at 2400mhz is because it's slower than the CPU is able to run without overclocking the memory controller and is within default specs for the cpu. There is no reason to suspect that this kit is fake as its able to run within the specification from the manufacturer. If you want to feel a difference you'll have to manually overclock the kit. Should be able to do this config you posted earlier: 3200mhz @1.35v at 16-20-20-20-38
