Character gender choice in gaming
Character gender choice in gaming
It's interesting how things turned out for me. I really liked the gameplay, especially the combat, though the story seemed hurried and the forced death of Lunafreya made it hard to connect emotionally. Things improve later, so I might try again once the remaining DLCs are available—especially since Episode Lunafreya and Arachnea could fit well. Regarding my preference, I tend to gravitate toward female characters, but if a male character offers something new, I’ll go for that too. I’ve enjoyed both FemShep and MaleShep in Mass Effect, and I’ve had a great time with Witcher 3 and the Tomb Raider series. Ultimately, being genderlocked doesn’t stop me from playing; it just means I’ll pick based on what excites me most.
I've always chosen female roles, as many games feature women as more agile figures which suits my style. I believe this was just escapism. I seldom pick male characters because I don't want to play myself. It bothers me when people say "men get to be themselves in games." Also, playing a strong female character is preferable to a tough male one.
