I’ve got some recommended configurations for your RTX 5080, Aorus X870E 1.2 and Ryzen 9800X3D with RAM. I won’t respond if it causes any issues, but I set it up in my BIOS and everything works fine. For point one, I changed the memory expo to 5600 using the expo/xmp profile 3 that’s already built into the BIOS for speeds like 7200 and 1.45V. Regarding point two, I only tweaked PBO and Global C state; the rest I handled as instructed. Extra things I adjusted include disabling RAM integrity checks and protection in Windows Defender/Windows Security, plus turning off CPU core protection. Both are available in Windows Defender/Windows Security—hope this helps others if they need similar guidance.
Memory (EXPO/Tuning): EXPO turned off for now (manual tuning possible later). Memory Frequency set to 5600 MT/s instead of the default 6000+ (your model supports 8000, but it’s quite aggressive at the moment). DRAM Voltage adjusted manually to 1.35V (check your unit’s label). Memory Context Restore disabled, Power Down enabled, Enable disabled—this helps prevent crashes from memory issues, which are common with early DDR5 and AMD chips.
Additional tweaks: Precision Boost/CPU Power PBO turned off, Curve Optimizer disabled, CPPC enabled, Global C-State Control enabled, let CPU run at default settings. You can adjust it later once stable.
AMD CBS / UEFI fixes for SMT enabled, Platform Thermal Throttle Limit set to Auto or 90°C SVM Mode (optional if using VMs), PCIe settings set to Gen 4 (not Auto or Gen 5). Above 4G decoding is on, Resize BAR support enabled, CSM disabled (required for full UEFI mode).
PCIe/GPU PCIe slot configuration set to Gen 4. Fast Boot is currently disabled (until stable), Secure Boot enabled (Standard or Microsoft mode), and Windows UEFI Mode confirmed.

I found a working fix! Even with the latest BIOS versions, you can re-flash it from the pendrive and essentially reinstall Windows to resolve issues. Here are the settings:
- PCIe 16 (GPU slot) Gen4 only – not Gen5 or auto mode
- Expo turned off
- Auto boost RAM disabled
- Disabled – Gear Down mode also off
- For 4800 speed, enable if stable and test 6000+
- Voltage timings remain unchanged; defaults from BIOS auto
- Auto for RAM timing, TLC timings set to 40 (matching your RAM specs)
- Optional: PBO disabled (accept responsibility in Advanced CPU settings)
- C-control enabled – this seems crucial.
The key was a full BIOS reinstall and switching to Gen4 with Expo off.
