Your PC runs an AMD A8-7600 with 45OW and 8GB RAM, paired with a Gigabyte Radeon Rx 460 Windforce OC 2GB GDDR5 graphics card. Let me know if you need assistance.

It seems ARK isn't running smoothly on low frame rates, especially at the highest settings. Performance drops significantly—like a 1070 model dropping to 20-40 FPS on 1080p.

It's unusual your 1070 model runs smoothly at 1440p on Epic, especially maintaining around 40-60 FPS.

My assumption is a CPU limitation.

There's a free spin-off of Ark call "Ark: Survival of the fittest" no one plays it but it'll let you see what kind of framerates and setting your rig can get without having to pay anything

Ark will consume that processor in the same way a T-rex would devour you after waiting twenty minutes to load into the game. I’m running a 970 and an Overclocked i7-2600, but on low settings I still face issues keeping 60 with frequent dips and stutters. For the best performance, try Crossfire or Sli. Edit: I double-checked the settings—low preset has AA as epic. Updated December 14, 2016 by BULLETBEEF | JA

Consider your current performance needs and whether an upgrade will meet your requirements.

Your friend will need a new board for a proper upgrade. The game isn’t optimized and runs poorly. If you manage to get the APU to hit 3.8 under full load—or better, a 4GHz overclock—you should be fine for low to medium play (online single-player is less demanding). You might also consider unlocking the extra stream processors as well.
