I'm currently using a 1070 and was not impressed by the ARK performance (it's likely an EA release, not fully optimized). Maybe adjust the graphics settings—checking the options like distance field shadows or AO could make a big difference. Sky quality, clutter density and draw distance, if pushed too high, hurt performance. I think I'll review my settings and let you know. I also updated my profile, turned everything up until I hit around 60–90fps on average during tests across different biomes. This is running on an i7 4770k, 16GB RAM, GTX 1070 with a standard SSD at 1080p. Updated December 14, 2016 by thedogowl. Also noticed textures are set high; they could be increased to Epic level.
