My laptop keeps asking me to install Windows 11...but I want it for my PC. Is there a way to "guide" it to my desk computer via some extra storage devices? If that's not possible, would it be doable to just put the OS on my laptop first, then copy it all over an external drive so I can move onto my desktop?

Is your computer ready for Windows 11? If so, you should have gotten a free upgrade offer. This new version needs UEFI, Secure Boot, and TPM support. What does your desktop look like in technical terms? No worries - if it works, just download from Microsoft and install. Windows 11 herunterladen

Okay and no. If your computer has full Win 11 support, you'll get a special win 11 update alert.

I have an old Windows 7 computer with a UEFI motherboard, but even though Secure Boot is on, it can't find any TPM when I check the BIOS.

Hey, can you show me what your machine is like? What CPU and RAM do you have? I need to know so I don't crash right away.

If you search for "how to put Windows 11 on a computer that doesn't support it," you'll probably get the answer right away. It is just sitting there at the very top of the page.

There is no law against this. Microsoft has their own page telling you to install Win 11 on old devices that don't officially support it. They just say, "it might work wrong." That's okay though. It's a valid way to try the new OS. If the OP doesn't like how it feels or if it crashes things up, they can go back and undo the update (if they did it step by step). On top of that, security updates still come for these old devices. So why wouldn't you give it a shot? Sure, knowing what computer hardware you have would help.

I'm not talking about rules of the game here. Just what does it need? It's actually okay to run Win 11 on old computers that should have been thrown away in space ages ago... Or maybe it needs a tiny bit more power from the TPM chip on newer ones. We just don't know which one it is. I've even heard people ask this about a Core2Duo with 3GB of RAM.
