Since the 17th I’ve experienced this problem where video output suddenly disappears on both monitors at random. At first I believed it was related to my new 6900xt graphics card, which I got a few weeks prior and seemed to behave normally after updating drivers, but it still occurred after switching back to an older version. This issue happens during activities like browsing Reddit, watching YouTube videos, or playing games. I’ve tried running Prime95 alongside the TRACE test in AMD Adrenalin, and it worked perfectly. However, after a while the video output would drop again. Restarting my PC usually restores it, though sometimes I encounter problems such as drivers disappearing or failing to install. I’m getting confused about what’s causing this but suspect my PSU might be aging and failing, especially since it doesn’t seem to fail during stress tests.
If the fans or LED on the GPU are still working, it usually means the power supply unit isn't the issue.
What's the age of your PSU? Do you have an extra one available for testing? If not, I'm familiar with the most cost-effective replacement part.
I don’t have a backup PSU and I’m heading out early next week. I was considering bringing my GPU with a friend back home to inspect it later. My PSU is around 10 or 9 years old, though it’s rated for 850W and 80+Gold.
