The room PC built from spare components features similar specifications to the one I have, using a Zotac 1050ti with a Pentium CPU. It handles League of Legends and Overwatch in 4K smoothly.

Actually, a ~$120 graphics card isn't seen as gaming since it significantly surpasses the performance of most systems available.

The gap between a 4590 and a 3470 isn't that big.
It doesn't matter whether the processor is "completely different"; the i5 3470 will still handle those games just okayly with that GPU.
Performance will stay similar because gaming at 1080p on a GPU like a 1050 mainly depends on the GPU, not the CPU. The CPU plays a lesser role in these cases.
The setup mentioned in the original post is a basic entry-level 1080p gaming PC. It should run all the games you thought it might struggle with just fine on lower and medium settings.
^THIS. Appreciate you adding some common sense and real expertise to this discussion.

It seems the main point was made about the gaming PC being discussed, but the response came across as exaggerated regarding its capabilities. The original message noted the limitations clearly, and the reply was somewhat overstated on aspects that weren't actually present in the conversation.

I believe they're discussing another topic, as no one mentioned the PC being bad. It seems only you brought it up. What makes you think the PC is terrible?

I disagree, just taking a look at the initial page of replies. I think Campy's answer might have been a bit too much, though not without reason.

But that doesn't imply using it in those ways will lead to sadness. You should be more precise about the kinds of games you want to play on it. The phrase "gaming computer" is quite general.
If you aim for AAA games from recent years with smooth performance, it might not fit. However, if you're focused on titles like CS:GO and Rocket League that demand high standards, it could be acceptable.
