Hello, While playing games I notice the GPU consistently runs at 97-100% but occasionally drops to 50-70% for a brief moment. I also experience occasional low frame rates around 0.1%. Could it be related to RAM limitations? Your system specs are: CPU - Ryzen 5 4500, GPU - RX 480 with 4GB RAM (recently added an 8GB stick), motherboard - MSI A320M-A Pro, power supply - Super Flower 500W Eco King 80+ Bronze. SSDs and HDDs are used for different games, but I haven't noticed any performance impact. Anyone have advice?

It's likely the poor power delivery on your motherboard is restricting performance or you're facing a CPU bottleneck. Verify your CPU usage in-game by installing MSI Afterburner via Rivatuner and note the percentage while maintaining 50% GPU utilization and your CPU's power draw.

Checking the CPU power consumption. Usage between 10-70% varies with the game.

You're using a single RAM DIMM, which means you're operating in single-channel mode. I recommend testing with two DIMMs first, especially when RAM is running in dual-channel. For Ryzen processors, this setup can impact performance. Your CPU should maintain 100% for an RX 480 in games that match your expectations. Which titles are you experiencing this issue with?

AMD Ryzen chips rely on Infinity Fabric for communication between CPU cores. This technology connects to memory speed and delay, meaning multiple RAM modules can significantly boost performance.

It's likely a mobile processor if it's up to 70 and uses little power.

I verified the details. During the game, the CPU ran at 60-80% load while drawing 22-40W with a clock speed of 4.1-4.2GHz.

Other titles I haven't played are uncertain since I haven't tried them.

Core clocks perform adequately with the CPU in the attached image, though power consumption may increase slightly at 80% load. Updated March 15, 2023 by filpo

Also, it mentions up to 4.1GHz, but it's actually running at 4.2GHz. I don't understand the difference.
