Client platforms limit PCIe lane availability. For AM5, only X670/E boards support PCIe 5.0 x16 for GPU and two PCIe 5.0 x4 M.2 slots. The X870/E chipset requires USB 4.0, which consumes one of the two PCIe 5.0 x4 lanes.

I also reviewed the X670E before contacting you. The main drawback is that it lacks WiFi 7, BT 5.4, USB 4.0, and other features the X870E offers, such as longer maintenance periods or BIOS updates. If I use a PCI 4 SSD in a PCI 5 slot, would it still share bandwidth? Or can I adjust settings on the motherboard? Could I install one PCI 4 SSD for the operating system, another for storage, and a PCI 5 SSD for gaming without affecting performance?

Regardless of what you place on each kind of drive, you're unlikely to see a noticeable change.

Yes, any vehicle sharing lanes will always share them regardless of the PCIe revision the port supports. Unless you're leveraging features that benefit from sequential performance (gaming isn't an issue), higher revision drives don't guarantee improvements. The main factors affecting performance remain the controllers and the NAND chips themselves. These enhancements will still be effective whether the drive runs at a higher or lower PCIe version.
