Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out for some assistance regarding components needed for assembling a new PC.

Here’s what I currently have:
CPU: Intel i7 2600
RAM: 16 GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance (4x4)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Gen 3
Cooler: Cooler Master Evo CPU Fan
Power Supply: Corsair AX 850W
GPU: Initially MSI GeForce 560 Ti, now MSI GeForce RTX 2060
Storage:
- 2.5" 250 GB SATA II Samsung 840 Pro SSD
- 2.5" 500 GB SATA II Samsung 850 Pro SSD
- 3.5" 4TB SATA I WD Black HDD
Case: Corsair Graphite Series™ 600T Mid-Tower Case
Optical Drive: Asus Bluray Burner

It’s 15 years old.
I still play R6 Siege, Rocket League, FIFA and AC series, and it’s clearly in the ventilator support stage—still functional but struggling. I can’t open a browser if any game or app is running...

For the new build I’m aiming for:
CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 7 9800X3D (or is there value in upgrading to 9900X3D or 9950X3D?)
RAM:
- VENGEANCE® 64GB DDR5 DRAM 6000MT/s CL30 AMD EXPO & Intel XMP Memory Kit
OR
- G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30-36-36-96 1.40V 64GB (2x32GB) AMD EXPO

SSD: I want to keep the previous setup. Options include:
- Crucial 1TB T705 NVMe PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD
- Samsung 9100 PRO with Heatsink 1 TB SSD NVMe™ M.2
- Samsung 990 PRO w/ Heatsink 2 TB SSD NVMe™ M.2
- WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD - 1TB, With Heatsink
- WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe™ SSD - 2TB, With Heatsink

PSU:
- RMe Series RM1000e Fully Modular Low-Noise ATX Power Supply (ATX 3.1 Certified, PCIe 5.1 compatible)
OR
- RMx Series RM1000x Fully Modular Power Supply (ATX 3.1 Certified, PCIe 5.1 compatible)

Motherboard: I’m considering X870 or X870E chipsets. Should I choose X850?
Requirements:
- At least three M.2 slots for PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives; ability to use two without lane sharing with the GPU
- Latest WiFi 7 (320 MHz), Bluetooth (5.4)
- Recent audio codec (ACL4080 min)
- Adequate ports/connectivity

CPU Cooler: I’m leaning toward Corsair H series, but the site is unclear. Options I’ve seen:
- Noctua NH-D15 G2
- Corsair NAUTILUS 360 RS ARGB
- Arctic Freezer 36 A-RGB (Black)
- Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB
- Cooler Master Hyper 622 Halo Black
- Cooler Master MasterAir MA824 Stealth 30th Anniversary Edition Dual Tower CPU Air Cooler

Case: I need a good case that fits the PSU, motherboard, and provides strong airflow—ideally one that can accommodate the largest consumer GPU (5090) and large air or liquid coolers. I might also want space for a BluRay burner. 😊
I’m not planning to swap out the GPU just yet; the old display, keyboard, and mouse will stay.

Users should format their messages with the information provided in this discussion.
*How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* This guide is based on a recent trend of people seeking upgrade guidance both here and on CPU forums. I developed it because many users are asking for advice on new builds and upgrades. The forum is based in the USA, and most of its audience is there. If you're outside the USA, please share the sites you use so we can understand your available brands and parts and their costs. Generally, the information from the linked thread above is relevant.
If you need a general recommendation:
A standard RAM kit will suffice.
You can go with a B850 chipset.
Any PSU will work too.
The top AIO in this category is the Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro.
I don’t plan to replace the GPU just yet; I’ll keep the old graphics, keyboard, and mouse.
What about those? Besides the RTX 2060 mentioned earlier, other options aren’t specified.

I wanted to clarify that I didn’t post according to the guidelines before, although I reviewed them prior. I own an older machine and am interested in upgrading to a newer model. At the same time, I aim to make thoughtful decisions—why purchase high-end brands like MSI Godlike or Threadripper? Absolutely not. I’m based in India and should be able to access most of what we’d expect here.

The answers I received were: LG 27" UltraGear, CM Storm Red-Switch, and DeathAdder V3.

Now, let me be more precise:
CPU options
- 9800X3D versus 9950X3D: would performance differ if I need to handle AI tasks such as Copilot or Claude? I want to stay competitive if AI becomes prominent in the next few years.
MoBo
- Are there models that don’t require lane sharing? I’d like to utilize all three slots (or at least two) with full PCIe 5.0 bandwidth alongside the GPU at maximum speed. Would there be a board offering three or more M.2 slots for PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives, and the capability to use at least two without lane sharing with the GPU (to run 5.0 at x16)?
- Latest WiFi 7 (320 MHz) & Bluetooth (5.4)
- Recent audio codec (minimum ACL4080)
- Adequate ports/connectivity (USB 4.0)
CPU Coolers
- Should I worry about leaks from AIO coolers? Since I don’t maintain my setup much, I’m open to air coolers. Are there options with digital displays that share temperature and RPM data? I’m confident the models I considered didn’t include those features.
Case
- I’ll definitely take @Why_Me’s recommendation (Antec FLUX PRO ATX Full Tower Case), though it’s on the pricier side for me. A question comes to mind: would it accommodate larger CPU air coolers (dual 140 MM fans), an AIO 420 MB drive, and a large 5090 GPU? Honestly, I’m not seeking anything overly advanced in the case—just ensuring it supports dual 140 MM fans, AIO 420 MB drives, and a 5090 GPU. An advantage would be a 5.25" drive bay and a 3.5" HDD bay.

A dual tower cpu cooler should function well, especially for gaming purposes. For an AIO setup, consider the 360mm Deepcool or Arctic Freezer Pro. Many mid-tower cases also provide enough space for your GPU.

Thanks
@Why_Me
I did do some research prior on the
X670E
, but it seems like Lane Sharing is a thing there as well. But most importantly, baring a few really super expensive boards rest all have a max of 1 PCIe 5.0 m.2 slot; and none have WiFi 7 / BT 5.4. With almost equivalent prices to X870E for some of the top (expensive) ones in X670E.
Its really getting tricky with the lane sharing thing ain't it... there is not much of a clarity around.

Let’s focus on the MoBo details.
We need a board that doesn’t require lane sharing, allowing all three slots to operate at full PCIe 5.0 speed together with the GPU at maximum bandwidth. It should support at least three M.2 slots for PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives, and be able to use two of them without sharing with the GPU for 5.0 at x16. The system must also include the latest WiFi 7 (320 MHz) and Bluetooth 5.4, plus sufficient USB 4.0 ports for connectivity.

Sorry to remind you, but are you sure you need to look into MoBo Board? There aren't any other options besides ASRock and MSI Godlike, which seem to have such high prices.

Hello, I previously contacted another forum within this community where the members were quite supportive. However, I think the discussion was about a general PC build rather than specifically about MoBo.

Are there any AM5 motherboards that don’t require lane sharing? I’d like to utilize all three slots (or at least two) at full PCIe 5.0 speed together with the GPU, achieving full bandwidth of 320 MHz WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Also, would there be a board offering three or more M.2 slots for PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives? It should support using at least two slots without lane sharing with the GPU to run at 5.0 x16?

I need a board that has these features:
- At least three M.2 slots supporting PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives
- Capability to use two or more of them simultaneously without lane sharing with the GPU (to maintain 5.0 at 160 MHz)
- Latest WiFi 7 (320 MHz) and Bluetooth 5.4
- Sufficient ports/connectivity (USB 4.0)
(Excluding MSI Godlike, of course)

Assuming there isn’t a suitable option due to AM5 or technological constraints (though I’ve heard about an ASRock Nova handling this, but it’s not well known and the recent 9800X3D issues are a concern), would it be possible to use multiple NVMe SSDs at lower speeds without impacting the GPU bandwidth?

This is my planned build:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 7 9800X3D
- RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30-36-36-96 1.40V 64GB (2x32GB) AMD EXPO
- SSDs: Three M.2 NVMe drives – one for the OS, one for games, and possibly another for general storage.
- Samsung 9100 PRO with Heatsink 1 TB SSD NVMe™ M.2
- Samsung 990 PRO with Heatsink 2 TB SSD NVMe™ M.2
- WD_BLACK SN8100 NVMe SSD – 1TB, with Heatsink
- WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD – 2TB, with Heatsink
- PSU: RMx Series RM1000x Fully Modular Power Supply (ATX 3.1 certified, PCIe 5.1 compatible)
- CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 G2 LBC
- Case: Corsair FRAME 5000D RS ARGB High-Airflow Mid-Tower PC Case
- GPU: Old RTX 2060 (planned to keep using for now)

What I’m missing is the motherboard. Could you help me find one that fits these requirements?
