Upgrading CPUs for gaming seems unnecessary unless you invest in a top-tier GPU. A better GPU is usually preferable unless your CPU is extremely old. You probably won’t need CPU upgrades for at least five years. By then, you’ll likely require a new motherboard, regardless of the platform you choose.

Choosing a 5600X with a budget B550 board offers much better value compared to more expensive options, delivering strong performance without breaking the bank.

You reached out to @expiredbiscuit for a chat about GPUs. I’m considering the Zotac GTX 1660 Ti priced at 4.020 million IDR (about 284.87 USD), but some friends recommend adding cash for the Sapphire Pulse RX 5600 XT at 4.475 million IDR (317.09 USD). What do you think?

Thanks! At 2.500.000 IDR (about 177,14 USD), you might want to look for more affordable CPUs. Consider options that fit your budget while still offering good performance.

If you haven't changed for a while (you'll likely need to change soon), opt for the more affordable option.

Thanks for the message! I also like getting the newest CPU, but in Indonesia the Ryzen 5 5600X was listed at 5.445 million IDR (about 385.85 USD), which is beyond my budget right now.

If you can't get the 5600x and really want to get AMD then you can wait for a month. There is an AMD announcement on 12th January. It could be the Ryzen 3 5000 series. But you will most probably be not getting those new products till a month or two after due to shortages. Or else you can get the 10400f....

Thanks to @Mister Woof for the update! The Ryzen 3 3300X is listed at 2.350,000 IDR (about 166.54 USD). It seems I missed sharing my PC's needs. I’ll use it mainly for web browsing, Microsoft Office apps like Word and PowerPoint, some video editing with Filmora 9 Free Plan, and light gaming—my brother plays Minecraft, PUBG Lite, CS:GO, Apex Legends, Valorant, and Nox Player.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter which option is the most affordable.

Thank you @expiredbiscuit for your response! I'm now hoping the PC parts aren't being overpriced anymore.
