I have two choices: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X paired with ASRock B450M Steel Legend or Intel Core i5 10400F with ASRock B460M Pro 4. Both options are similar in price right now. Which one suits you better?

Join the discussion! Playing on the i5 10400 offers some improvement, though not significant. For a stronger upgrade route with more options and capabilities, consider the R5 2600x. A good motherboard choice in this case is Steel Legend.

The Ryzen 5000 series remains compatible with B450 chipsets. The additional cost of 174,000 IDR (about 12.33 USD) is for the ASRock B550M Pro 4 model.

Updates are limited. Likely, support for the upcoming Ryzen models will end. Processors usually don’t require major changes for a few years. Investing more would go toward improving the graphics card.

Thank you for your response! I’d like Intel if they maintain LGA1200 on the next 11th generation and find it easier to use instead of AMD. However, I’m still leaning toward AMD because of better support for newer CPUs, especially since I can’t overclock them.

It doesn't make sense to purchase the 2600x version if you plan to upgrade to 5000 anyway. The result is a net loss. I concur with your other comment.
