Avoid easy servers that attract beginners looking for quick wins. Stay focused on servers with active gameplay and the maps you prefer. Improvement comes with consistent effort, patience, and strategic thinking. Good luck!
Some servers still have players with high skill levels, which I don’t welcome. I’ve seen this happen multiple times when trying to join a game and getting banned right away because my stats were too strong. My K/D is about 1.45, but I’m not sure what the exact threshold is. It might help to check the server descriptions for noob labels.
For Battlefield 3, I play on [uN] NOOBS <3 TDM!~ {UN}UNITEDNOOBS!! because there tends to be an absence of godplayers. Teammates are generally nice, too. For battlefield 4, I found two good ones: (((NTCC))) Noobs Welcome!! - Fast Points and Rank UP!! and 333 Noobs Welcome!! - Fast Points and Rank UP!!. But the later tends to have the occasional high K/D player. As kreft010 suggested, the servers will generally have a description.
I've ranked up a bit more But I feel most other players have alot better aim than me. Could be more experience, better mouse(?), that I can't see that well on my current 19" screen connected via D-sub? Still waiting for my 24" IPS screen with DP. The drawback of ordering stuff this time of the year.
Some servers enforce rank limits more strictly, yet as a top-ranked player in both BF3 and 4 I’m unsure which ones stand out to me. Keep in mind that your chance of being eliminated depends more on reaction speed and tactical awareness than just your rank. I often see players ranked high struggle with skill because they don’t know the best spawn spots. Both games let you jump onto teammates, but rushing in can be risky—always aim for contested areas or safe objectives. Experiment with mouse settings to find what suits you. Weapons that fire slower and hit harder tend to be gentler on beginners. Remember to use cover and stay aware of your position; avoid staying too long in one spot if the enemy is strong.
I've been experimenting on the test area, getting used to reducing the kickback when using full auto. With the AK 5C, I stick to the regular AK 5 during my time in the military a century ago (it feels like). Still searching for the right mouse sensitivity; what works well near or at medium range becomes tricky at slightly higher distances, possibly due to recoil affecting shots beyond that point.
The AK 5C offers solid training value due to its precision and manageable fire rate with minimal sideways movement. Its vertical movement is average, though it remains steady and manageable with mouse adjustments. Using quick bursts, pulling back the mouse, and the angled foregrip can improve performance. While effective at close range, longer distances require more shots—typically 6 to 7 hits at 50 meters to incapacitate an opponent. For better performance in those scenarios, consider switching to a SCAR-H, DMR, or LMG. Heavier models like the PKP, M60E4, and M240B excel here, delivering accuracy, fewer rounds needed, and light recoil when using tap-fire bursts.
Thanks for the guidance—it's really appreciated. Since I don’t have any upgrades available, I’m sticking with the AK-12 for most of my gaming, mainly using it in assault roles. From what I remember, the mag doesn’t hold up as well under continuous full auto fire, but it does offer good accuracy. We practiced at a training range about 300 meters away, with a monitor showing hits and targets made from self-healing material. It was manageable to get solid grouping in single shots from that distance. I was the top shooter in my unit, but because I needed glasses, I couldn’t get proper sniper training. I did try the PSG-1, the sniper rifle, and managed to hit a coin at 300 meters. Still, without proper training, I wouldn’t have been able to use it effectively. But I’d have gotten an AK-5 with a scope if it were available. It’s funny how you can’t have a sniper who can’t see clearly if he loses his glasses, right?
