It has a modest amount of RAM, typically around 2GB. You generally use it for basic tasks like browsing the web, email, and light office work. If you're using it on Windows 7, it should function adequately for everyday needs.

I received 1GB of RAM with Windows 7 Starter, but the setup was problematic. Mostly I use it for running basic low-end games that still lag. My computer is slow and takes a long time to respond. I don’t have funds to buy a new device. I’m considering installing a very basic Windows version to improve performance without spending money.

My dad uses the same setup for certain tasks, but he finds it slow on Windows 7. I think switching to a Linux distribution like Elementary, Ubuntu, or Mint would make things run much better. It would also be more flexible if you aren’t forced to stick with Windows—something that applies to his netbook.

Sure, the lightest option is likely the one with the lowest density.

The person above you knows the solution, but I’ll stick with Windows 7 Ultimate as the top choice for you.

Is it a netbook or a compact laptop? Netbooks typically use an ARM processor (similar to a Raspberry Pi) and support only a few Windows OS versions like Windows 8. If your system has a 32-bit or 64-bit processor, consider using Tiny7.
