B450-f Gaming VRM's
I don't have personal experiences, but the VRM on a B450-F gaming motherboard typically performs well under high temperatures. It should comfortably manage an OC of 2700X and likely handle higher speeds like 3800X or even 3900X without issues. If you have other builds to compare, feel free to share!
Similar budget components are commonly seen on boards such as the Prime B350-Plus or Gigabyte's B450 M Gaming. Essentially, they’re only suitable for a six-core processor and require adequate cooling to function properly. A 2700X rating usually leads to performance drops below its intended baseline.
ASP1106GGQW unit built with two doubled power stages (four channels total) using four C10B transistors and a subpar heatsink. Not suitable for a 65W component, especially not for high-end octa-core processors like the 2700X.
The high cost mainly stems from its stylish design and branding from ROG/Strix... Still, it’s not entirely unreasonable. I think the R7 3700X with all settings should function well, though PBO+AutoOC or manual overclocking seem unlikely. The R7 3800X wouldn’t be worth it since extra performance might get limited by throttling.
Hey, it’s funny you bought this without knowing about VRMs back then. Now that you’re paying attention, you’re right to double-check. I’m using it with my 2600x and it works fine, but I appreciate your advice on VRMs too.
I just figured that out now. After I bought it, I was planning to upgrade my CPU after my GPU upgrade. Would a 2600x really slow things down compared to a 5700X? Unless you think so, I probably won’t upgrade then. If you’re not sure, just skip it and save up for a better motherboard and CPU.
Yeah true... I've got this problem where i want to have current gen hardware lol.
