Avoiding games now
2014 was a particularly bad year for gaming, as everyone expected. New generations often produce poor titles within their first couple of years due to rushed releases across various platforms or outdated systems. I plan to leave this year and stay away completely next year when next-gen games finally launch. 2015 feels significantly better compared to 2014, mainly because of the games I’m aware of: Star Wars Battlefront, Project Cars, Batman Arkham, The Witcher 3, The Last of Us, Mortal Kombat X, Tekken 7, Street Fighter V, Dead or Alive, The Division, Rainbow Six Siege, Assassins Creed, Victory, Dying Light, Dead Island 2, Metal Gear Solid V, The Phantom Pain, GTA V, PC Evolve, Star Citizen, and PU Alpha. Other titles like No Man’s Sky, Hotline Miami, Hyper Light Drifter, Roller Coaster Tycoon World, and several others didn’t quite live up to expectations. More info can be found at the Wikipedia page on 2015 in video gaming.
These titles present unique experiences beyond typical games. MOBA titles such as DOTA 2 and LOL demand dedication, teamwork, and a solid grasp of mechanics. I’ve played 300 games and still feel challenged, especially after taking time off—learning curves never stop.
