It seems there were several issues. I'm sorry you had to ask so many questions—it would help to confirm whether it was dropped or if someone accidentally left a pen on the keyboard and closed the mouth.

The laptop had been sitting in a cabinet for roughly three months. When they needed to move it, I asked if I could take it apart for parts. They said only the screen was damaged.

Consider using DiskPart to select the correct disk, run a Clean All, and attempt to form a partition. If that fails, check if the drive is damaged and not usable.
