They stop you from starting only if you connect it to the incorrect pins, not if the orientation is wrong. To check if the power button is the problem, you’ll need to short the pins with a screwdriver. The +3V voltage isn’t the issue. Honestly, I don’t believe the connectors are the cause of your system failing to power on. Make sure all power cables, RAM, CPU, and graphics card are securely connected. Are the CPU fan cables attached?

Everything seems linked, so I’ll review it carefully. It’s possible another LED might turn on if something else isn’t working.

Yes, one LED should illuminate, but I'll verify it again. If absolutely nothing responds after pressing the power button, there may be a faulty component or improper connection. I own a Z170 Sabertooth S, but unfortunately no CPU and I'm not sure about those LED patterns. It would help to remove the CMOS/BIOS battery, turn off the power, and restart the system to reset BIOS settings. Also test the power button by shorting its pins. When troubleshooting, try to minimize variables. If nothing works, consider removing everything from the case and reattaching it carefully. This can sometimes be necessary to restore functionality in older systems. I've encountered various unusual hardware problems over time.

It sounds like you're unsure about removing the CMOS/BIOS battery. Let me know if you'd like guidance on how to do it safely.

The battery is positioned here. I highlighted the metal tab securing it. Push it in the way the arrow indicates to detach the battery.

I removed the battery and put it back in, but the problem persists. I’m considering taking everything out and starting over.

Right, sort of positive update. The PC turns on now (fans, RGB etc.) however the DRAM LED stays lit up in orange now but both my RAM light up? I tried them both one at a time switching between the recommended A2 & B2 DIMM slots but the DRAM error LED still comes on. I have tried pressing the mem OK! button but still nothing and nothing comes up on my monitor either. Any ideas mate?

Did you recall shutting down the power after removing the CMOS battery? Perhaps the BIOS wasn’t fully reset. If that doesn’t apply and you’ve checked every RAM DIMM in all slots without success, then either the RAM or the motherboard might be faulty. I believe they aren’t incompatible. Skylake and Z170 generally handle most RAM types without issues.

It was a bit surprising when the power went down after removing the CMOS battery. The manual mentioned using 3200MHz Corsair RAM, but that seems confusing.
