I have this motherboard, but the connection with my Universal Audio - Apollo Twin X Thunderbolt audio interface isn’t working. The main problem appears to be that the Thunderbolt software is locked by Intel during setup and displays various error messages. I’ve contacted ASUS for assistance. I disabled Thunderbolt security in the BIOS, which was difficult because it wasn’t obvious where to find it—you have to search within the UEFI for “thunderbolt.” The BIOS options included: Thunderbolt (enable/disable), Security (none/USB4 only), Wake command (two options I don’t remember), and something related to MMIO. It seems there might be a power enable/disable setting I need to adjust. I’m not sure where the “bleeding” option is. If anyone can help, please let me know—I’d really like to avoid buying another Apple product after these issues.
So... what exactly is work? These connections function as USB3.2 Type C ports? Yet they don't operate like Thunderbolt 3 ports? Or are they just not compatible with Thunderbolt 4 or USB4? Asus doesn’t provide drivers for Thunderbolt versions? I found this board in my Newegg cart, not planning to buy it this week, but intend to. Right now I don’t need anything related to Thunderbolt, but having it available for later is why I’m opting for this model. If the Thunderbolt ports fail, I’ll switch to the ASRock X570 Creator with Thunderbolt 3 ports (plus 10GbE). This board seems relatively new? Expect some initial issues, but since the TB4 ports are a key selling feature, I hope Asus will release working drivers!
I'm facing the same problem again. The motherboard for creators is a total waste of time. With such a high price, it's no surprise this happens. A real joke!
I just put in this motherboard today to boost efficiency with the Caldigit Thunderbolt 3 dock and several Thunderbolt devices. So far, it’s been the only one that hasn’t worked for me. It’s disappointing that ASUS didn’t provide clear guidance on getting Thunderbolt 4 to function properly.
For those struggling with your Thunderbolt setup, did you install Armory Crate during initial Windows installation? The BIOS usually handles this automatically and it often provides the chipset drivers, including Thunderbolt support. I found some users facing problems, so it seems disabling security in the Thunderbolt BIOS might be necessary. Those settings shouldn't be enabled by default. You don’t need to adjust the BIOS at all. Also, the Thunderbolt option appears under Advanced and AMD PBS—no need for a search. I’ve had this board run smoothly with an RTX 3090 and a 1080 Ti inside a Thunderbolt eGPU (Razor Core X). No Thunderbolt issues have arisen so far.
