I purchased a new laptop and noticed it was set up with Windows 10 LTSC, but it doesn’t work properly. I’m unsure if switching to a different Windows version will cancel the warranty, so I’ll check with the store later. Meanwhile, can I install Windows 11 using the steps in this video without any problems? Thank you. Note: This device is compatible with Windows 11 as confirmed by Microsoft’s analysis tool. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

The warranty remains intact, though the actual outcome depends on the version listed in the PC specifications. If the device is marked for Windows 11, that should be the intended setup. I believe LTSC cannot be upgraded directly to Windows 11; you might need to bring the PC back to the retailer and request a Windows 11 installation. As previously mentioned, if the specifications indicate Windows 11 is included, it should be installed from the start.

All global producers keep the warranty active when setting up another operating system. You can get the first choice from the "Windows 11 Installation assistant" and adhere to the on-screen instructions for automatic installation. https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11. In some situations, LTSC might require unique keys for custom features, so additional costs may apply for things like changing the password or theme.

Many laptop sellers do this since those licenses are more affordable for them. I’m not sure where you’re from, but updating your OS or tweaking your BIOS won’t void the warranty. You might want to look at the manufacturer’s warranty site for details. Just install your own Windows copy, and it should work just fine.

I usually plan to use Macrium Reflect for the drive and maintain a backup somewhere to restore it if necessary.

It seems like the device is likely a basic laptop, and the store might have installed it. The LTSC version appears to be more affordable or possibly a questionable activation method leading to that version.

The laptop includes Ubuntu but also runs Windows 11 (verified on the Dell website); it is the Dell Vostro 3405 model.

No connection exists between unauthorized activation and the LTSC edition.

It sounds like you're considering alternatives to the current setup. A more reliable option might be upgrading to Windows 10 Pro or an unactivated version. They seem to have installed something that could be costly, so it's good you're aware. The main concern is whether you can install Windows 11 as demonstrated in the video without issues. Without a USB drive, it's uncertain if everything will work smoothly.
