Hi Ben, yes it is possible. You can wipe your HDD completely, delete all files and settings, and then reinstall Windows from a fresh installation media. Since you only have one HDD, you’ll need to back up any important data first. Using an external drive for the installation will work well. Make sure to follow the official Windows installation steps, and if needed, use a bootable USB with Windows 7 to guide the process. This way you can start fresh without lingering issues. Good luck with your build!

You only require your Windows 7 DVD. Without it, you can obtain an ISO file and burn it onto a DVD using the provided link. Start your system from the DVD, remove all existing partitions from the hard drive, set up a fresh one, and install the operating system.

Run the installer and choose a custom installation. At that stage, you have the ability to modify partitions—such as creating or deleting them. Clear any partitions you no longer need and insert them back onto the correct drives. Pick the desired boot drive and proceed with the setup.

You inserted your Windows 7 disk, started the custom installation, and it won’t ask for a new activation key since you used one before. This process will let you reinstall everything as though you’d set up Windows from scratch.

Consider creating two partitions on a single hard drive. Use one smaller portion for the operating system and another for applications and files. This provides a backup option if needed later.

I’ll guide you through the process. First, reformat your HDD into a single partition. Then, when you choose custom installation, select the new partition type and proceed with the setup. Let me know if you need further clarification!

Removing your past partitions will result in losing all your data, correct?

You should boot from the CD if you're unsure, but if you're certain it's installed, you can place the CD in and then proceed.

Attempt to erase or swap your hard drive before retrying.
