It doesn't seem like the game could possibly be this expansive and stunning without feeling overwhelming. This open world really brings together many elements that constantly interact, which is different from what you expect in a shooter like Call of Duty. Even with VSYNC enabled, I still maintain around 80 FPS across the whole experience, which is impressive. What more could you ask for?...and recording gameplay doesn't change that much either—still stuck at about 60 FPS on Ultra.
Recording doesn't change the frame rate when using Shadowplay. Some users prefer monitors with higher refresh rates and may gain more from optimized PC settings to fully utilize them. Many games have solid PC optimization options that highlight these benefits. Titles like Titanfall, COD:AW, and CSGO are examples.
these aren't the most polished titles—they're simply designed to be more relaxed experiences. They have fewer details, less interaction, and aren't open-world free-to-play games. Assassin's Creed is a sandbox open world, which makes it stand out from games like Call of Duty in any way.
I never claimed they were more demanding than Assassin's Creed. I mentioned that the developers really worked hard to deliver a solid PC experience. The Crew is an open-world game from Ubisoft, optimized for PC rather than console, since most players will use it there. ACU was essentially a major push into console markets with PC as a secondary focus. Ubisoft has acknowledged this and is now working to resolve the PC issues.
At first launch without updates, the game stuttered heavily, nearly impossible to play. I tested all anti-aliasing settings but got the same issue. After updating to version 1.4 and installing the latest AMD driver (which helped a lot), I also followed the FXAA method from a previous forum thread. Now Unity runs smoothly.
I previously posted this discussion but many missed it, so now it's available as a video. Here’s the original link: It was created on December 6, 2014.
They both offer open world experiences, but the number of NPCs varies significantly, making direct comparisons difficult... I’m pleased to note I run it smoothly with the newest AMD Omega driver, improving average FPS from 30-40 to a consistent 45-65. Regarding FXAA, this is the only title so far that matches SMAA in performance impact. The driver’s boost also lets me play comfortably at VSR's 3200x1800 settings, with minimal unplayable drops, though I haven’t reduced detail yet.
It really enhances the visuals with FXAA, unlike most other titles where it looks distorted or blurry. I rarely use FXAA myself, but this version works perfectly. It should definitely be included in every upcoming PC game. I’m getting tired of having to run four times MSAA just to achieve such quality.
