Hello. I encountered a memory issue and was advised to check for bent pins. As this is my first build, I’m unsure if I missed something. The motherboard connections seem fine, but I purchased a budget CPU and it didn’t look great. I’ll share some photos. Appreciation would mean a lot! Thanks.

Carefully wipe the surfaces using 99% isopropyl alcohol. Avoid contact with the CPU socket—it's safe there. The residue seems to be from the thermal paste application.

I don't see any bent pins on the motherboard, but there is some residue on the CPU. Try to wipe it off with 91% or higher isopropyl alcohol.

The issue involves a RAM error. RAM typically refers to your computer's memory. After cleaning and reinstalling the CPU, if the problem continues, try using only one RAM stick in the first primary slots on your motherboard (check the manual). Replace them to test if a faulty stick is the cause, or if it might be misaligned or improperly seated (details vary by model per the manual).

It had thermal paste applied over it, so I wasn't certain wiping it wouldn't cause harm. It might be considered a minor issue rather than a complete error.

A bent pin on a motherboard or CPU might affect memory connections, leading to issues such as a non-functioning memory channel. The problem could also stem from thermal paste or debris on the CPU contacts, hindering proper connection with the motherboard pins.

It's likely a bent pin would prevent the motherboard from connecting properly with the CPU contact area. The thermal paste might also be blocking the connection. If it's conductive, leaving it in place could worsen the issue. Clean it with isopropyl alcohol instead of rubbing it on.

It seems there’s damage to the CPU pads. Upon closer inspection of the chip, you’ll notice scratches that have affected the pads. There’s also visible scratching in the center area (bottom right), aligning with the pad damage. It appears someone may have accidentally rubbed or scratched it, causing harm to the chip. The overall condition isn’t ideal, but there’s no need to worry—you can still attempt repairs.

I’m dealing with an Evga Z370 FTW issue where the memory initialization failed and no usable RAM appears. I attempted to switch slots, starting at slot 2 and 4 as per the manual, but the problem persists even after replacing another pair of RAM sticks. I’ve already tried CPU tweaks, but it’s been a frustrating experience. No luck with any other solutions so far.

Consider checking another option to see if it offers faster shipping, or evaluate its chances based on available details.
