Nvidia sent me an email with early access to Lawbreakers. Do you have any information about the game or its future? I’m not sure.
I received an email containing an invite key last night and added it to my Steam account. However, the upcoming alpha/beta testing is scheduled for the 6th, as mentioned in the email. The game's technical specifications list an i7-4790, 16GB SysRAM, GTX 970/R9 290 (for 90Hz/FPS) or 980Ti or better (for 120-144Hz/FPS). This suggests they intend to support the Vive and/or Rift. The i7-4790+GTX 970 is essentially the minimum requirement for the Rift, along with the required RAM and processing power for the game's physics simulations.
It's likely because you received your key early, so you're prepared to play when the next testing phase begins. They're running tests in short sessions over a couple of days, which lets more people join if they get their keys soon. This avoids wasting valuable testing time by installing the game later instead of getting it ready beforehand.
This will likely hinge on how Nexon manages post-launch support and monetization (whether it's a full pay-to-play model with microtransactions...). For now, the alpha/beta keys are probably reserved for the development team until testing is complete. Regarding the 970, I don't have any information about that.
It's fair enough, you'll earn some bragging rights for being part of the testing phases of the game's development cycle, even if you won't play it after release. ;P For instance, I've participated in nearly every beta and even alpha versions of Blizzard's titles since WoW:Cata launched—D3 Beta, SC2 Beta, HotS Alpha & Beta, Hearthstone Beta, Overwatch Beta, B.Net Launcher Beta, and WoW:MoP Beta. I believe WoD and Legion are the only ones I haven't been in yet.
