As far as I'm aware, Lawbreakers is going to have an upfront retail price at launch. I doubt participating in the alpha gets you free access to the game at launch. Boss Key Productions wants people playing their game during the alpha, ideally as testers but also because words like "alpha" and "beta" are code for "promotional demo" these days. It's an arena shooter by a new studio headed by Cliff Bleszinski, the guy behind Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. It sounds like it has promise, and if you're into arena shooters it's probably worth taking a look.
It's not similar to Overwatch; Nexon is simply a company. It's created by Cliffy B, who also developed Unreal Tournament and Gears of War.
Testing begins the following day. PDT: Saturday 1pm – Sunday 6pm. EDT: Saturday 4pm – Sunday 9pm. UTC: Saturday 8pm – Monday 1am (Saturday 9pm – Monday 2am BST). AEST: Sunday 6am – Monday 11am.
