Are you feeling tired from gaming?
I wasn't in parenting or my thirties when gaming fatigue hit its highest point. It began after noticing that new games were all big, intense blockbusters or overly serious experiences. To escape this mood, I took a break from playing for a few months. When I returned, I focused on finding games that felt lighthearted and fun—like Bayonetta, Rocket League, and some retro titles. This shift has made a big difference, and now I only enjoy those big movies occasionally.
I experience gaming fatigue from time to time. Usually I pause until something draws my attention again. Often it returns after an impulsive purchase. In those quieter moments I read a few books each week and play Magic: The Gathering. Interestingly, the last time MTG helped me push through was when I realized playing once a week wasn’t enough, so I switched to the online version which brought me back in. If you’re looking for something new, Civilizations is enjoyable and can really immerse you, especially if you enjoy history.
I believe Doom could work well here. Just dive in, fire off, and get out. I've noticed simpler games tend to be more fun as you mature. No heavy storylines, no complicated mechanics, nothing unnecessary—just straightforward action like "Here come the demons. Shoot them down."
I have a child who spends a lot of time playing video games. We don’t spend much time together, but I try to stay interested by sharing deals and sales, letting him play, and talking about what he’s doing. I also enjoy gaming myself, though less often than he does. There are times when I skip a game entirely, but I still find it enjoyable. To encourage me to keep coming back, I adjust the settings to easier levels. I want to stay engaged without getting frustrated by difficulty.
I purchased Doom mainly because of that aspect. (The same applies to Black Ops 3.)
Given that setup and playtime, it's clear you put a lot of effort into Minecraft. Appreciate the suggestion!
