Are there still problems with USB on Ryzen 5000 processors even when using the latest BIOS updates?
Are there still problems with USB on Ryzen 5000 processors even when using the latest BIOS updates?
I was curious about whether purchasing a Zen 3 CPU would lead to that problem.
5950x featuring a B550 Steel design, everything works perfectly. (Running on Linux instead of Windows, but I’m not sure if that matters.)
These USB problems would likely show up as intermittent connectivity or performance drops. With many devices plugged in and additional ports added, stability could be affected. On a high-end system like yours, you might notice occasional delays or failures when transferring files, using peripherals, or accessing storage.
Several connections seem to connect with PCIe 4.0 devices. To clarify my situation: I'm using an RTX 3060 at Gen 4.0 x16, paired with my 5950x for roughly a month now. Before that, I had a 3700x and didn’t encounter any USB problems. It might be that the issue was resolved before I upgraded to the 5950x, or perhaps it’s just a coincidence.
I just assembled a 5900x system with an Aorus X570 and encountered serious USB problems. Initially everything worked in the onboard USB 2.0 port, but File Explorer freezes and the system disconnects repeatedly, eventually leading to a black screen. I updated chipset drivers, installed and reinstalled Windows updates, flashed BIOS with the latest firmware, rolled back drivers, reinstalled USB controllers and the SCSI controller, disabled Global C-State, adjusted PCI-E settings, turned off Re-Bar, and still faced issues. The USB 3.1 flash drive used for Windows and BIOS installation functions in all ports, including USB 3.0 on the motherboard and front panel. The board runs smoothly with a 3950X. It seems I might need to return the chip, which would be difficult given it's brand new. Outside the retail return window, since I waited for an RTX 3000 card before finalizing my build. Anyone else have any quick tips?
