In short, your CPU is being heavily impacted by the game. No matter how you adjust settings, performance drops to around 15 FPS every few seconds before recovering. It seems like a hardware limitation rather than just software. Your i7-6700 and Radeon 5700XT are in question. I’m wondering if there’s anything you can do now to ease the strain while you wait for the Ryzen 5 5600X to be available again. Are you sure your CPU isn’t the main bottleneck?

Game requires significant CPU power but shouldn't run at full capacity constantly... My 4.7Ghz 4790K uses between 60-95% across all cores with an OC 2080TI, usually staying around 60-80%.

This behavior matches what I've seen before, especially during those short bursts. It seems to happen more often in Saint Denis, which is the main city area of the game. I'm not sure if it's related to the chip or just a result of playing a newer version that isn't fully optimized and might have some bugs. If the latter, it shouldn't be an issue with RDR2.

Occasionally at first run, the game creates shaders that consume significant CPU resources. However, after about ten minutes it subsides. CP2077 experienced some major issues during its initial release, which might explain this behavior.

Over time they should reduce lower CPU consumption with newer updates...or provide more frames for similar tasks. RDR2 on my 4790k reaches about 70-75fps even when lowering settings, but it’s too demanding on my CPU for smoother frames. This intensity is common in smaller, intense gaming areas—people test it there and see the limits, especially during nighttime scenes which affect GPU and CPU usage around 75fps.

Great suggestion, yet the issue remains consistent throughout my game. It seems to intensify over time. I believe bugs might be the root cause.

I really hope that's true, but no matter what, I should end up with a brand-new 5600X which would make a big difference... If I can manage it.

Your CPU consistently operates between 25% to 40% utilization, especially at 3.4GHz. The 2080S maintains around 98% usage under various conditions—1440p, all settings maxed out, RT Ultra enabled, and DLSS quality applied. Performance averages about 30 frames per second, dropping to roughly 20 fps in crowded environments and reaching 40 fps in quieter settings with fewer people.

The issue should be resolved now, though it's an i7-6700 (3.4GHz).
