I experience graphical stutters and frame rate fluctuations within open-world titles such as Rust, Grand Theft Auto, Minecraft, and Mordhau. However, these issues are absent in games like Rainbow Six Siege due to their smaller maps. My hardware consists of a GTX 1070, an i7-6700K processor, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and a 400 watt power supply. I’m unsure why I encounter these performance spikes – I can maintain high frame rates only to have them suddenly drop when the game loads new areas or densely populated zones. I suspect it may be related to my RAM or another component, but I need assistance understanding potential causes.

I’m unsure. Is it possible to view this without removing my power supply unit from my computer?

It’s generally quite simple; you typically just need to open the computer and examine the sticker attached to it. I believe when you mention removing it, you mean it’s concealed beneath a power supply housing within your case, correct?

That's incorrect; the power supply unit doesn’t interface with the motherboard to facilitate data transfer or communication, meaning no software can perceive its function. It solely provides energy to the system and supplemental components.

Were you the one who assembled it, or was it already constructed for you?

If prebuilt, is it a bespoke build sourced from a secondhand purchase, or does it resemble established brands like Dell or HP, or is it a custom-assembled system such as those offered by iBuyPower and CyberpowerPC?

It’s a factory-made Lenovo; I upgraded the memory to two 8GB modules over the holidays and installed an i7 6700K approximately a year ago. It's now about two and a half years old.

ok, so definitely a cheap power supply in there for sure.
I would wager that to be your issue.
It's probably just not able to properly power both the GPU and CPU you have.

Could you suggest a power supply unit that is compatible? [Edited] And do you believe it might be my hard drive, and would an SSD improve things, or not?

You may be encountering performance problems due to a sluggish hard disk – specifically, if it’s a 5400rpm model, as a 7200rpm drive typically wouldn't present these difficulties.

I suggest considering a power supply unit, but the specific recommendation will vary based on your financial constraints.

Kindly state your budget and indicate the currency used, along with your country of residence.
