Hi, PLEASE help me figure this out. I can't get this stupid cooler to hold proper temperatures on this cpu. My room is about 19-20C, at idle it's about 41°C and as soon as you open a browser or anything it shoots up to 62C or more. Pushing full AIDA64 stress test, it's instantly up to 77C and stays there. Cpu uses about 150W stock, fans at about 1700RPM I wanted a quiet setup but it gets noisy quite easily. 1600RPM on fans or more. Were my expectations to keep this CPU at 49C or around there under load with this gigantic cooler unrealistic? Steve seems to have managed to do that in his video, I don't get it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I just can't reproduce anything near 50C under load: I've reinstalled the AIO onto the cpu with new thermal paste a few times now, seems to spread out evenly and have cross tightened the screws to make sure. Idle: Load test with Aida - Keep in mind CASE WINDOW IS REMOVED: The setup is like this. There wasn't enough room inside the case for the fans+radiator, so the fans are mounted on top of the case chassis, and the radiator inside the case. The fans then blow out the heat through the side vents at the top: Water seems to be running -> pump working, can be felt when touching the hoses. YES I have removed the plastic before installing the cooler.
It's 50.9c plus ambient temps, around 21C making it roughly 72C. Are you trying to align the voltages since nothing about that is mentioned? It seems like a 6C difference, likely due to case, voltages, and other variables. That’s not a huge change after all.
Yes, those were unrealistic expectations. That 51C that GN has is delta T over ambient, or the difference between the running temp and room temp. It translates to 72C under full load, and that's with a very controlled voltsge and current draw.
It matches what we anticipated. The slight increase in temperature might stem from room temperature being higher (summer in the northern hemisphere, not everyone uses AC), solder quality on the chip being lower, your device drawing more power by default, or the motherboard's fan curve not matching the original settings.
I discovered the slightly warmer readings. The cooler wasn't forming good contact clearly. The temperature shifts are now smoother, and my idle has dropped to 40°C. The load temp is about 73°C with the same 1700 RPM fan speeds. It did make a small difference—I mistakenly rearranged the brackets and they weren’t symmetrical.
