it should work on normal 10 bit hd r panels too. at least with hdr, it's always on when you mix different content, like sdr stuff and video in one window...as long as you don't use some really old icc color profile, sdr under hdr mode has enhanced colors already, they just added a wider color gamut to sdr (10 bit sdr) before. that used to be a thing only on workstation GPUs now.
I might need to watch it work out before I decide if switching monitors is worth the effort. Might just happen next time. My LG model didn't have HDR back then and it wasn't great. Not in a hurry to change anything since my screen still matches my graphics card well. It took me years to get that right.
