You're participating in an online competition similar to a league, blending elements of Minecraft with multiplayer gaming.

Guild Wars 2 appeals to those who prefer alternatives to typical MMOs and avoid recurring fees.

When you mention MMO, I assume you're referring to a large player base and not a typical LoL game. Planetside 2 is F2PMMOFPS and it's really great!

Star Wars: The Old Republic is pretty good these days. Lots to do. If you want something different from the usual hotbar RPG, then check out FireFall, which is a first-person shooter but still has plenty of customization and things to do.

Firefalls been my favourite so far. I like the idea of MMOs but the execution is always lacking, that damn grinding face roll gameplay is boring as hell IMO, Firefalls still got the grind but at least the gameplay is FPS based which makes it a whole lot more fun. With V1.0 out now there's a heap more content too, its still far from perfect but better then anything else I've tried so far.

MMO versus MMORPG—distinct categories exist. MMO refers to games like League of Legends; Dota’s MMORPG is GW2; SWTOR falls under that genre.

SWTOR is free unless you prefer end-game perks, otherwise you'll have to pay. For a WoW-like experience, Rift stands out as the top clone with fresh twists on the genre. If you dislike World of Warcraft like many others, consider Tera or DCUO (if you're into DC superheroes). For FPS fans wanting an MMO twist, Defiance is a solid choice—it blends FPS action with MMO elements, and the story is engaging. DCUO was challenging for me to reach the endgame, but switching weapons and classes made it fun. My brother enjoyed playing as a healer in Tera, and Defiance offers a great mix of FPS and MMO, with amazing PvP compared to most free games like CoD or BF. Hope this helps!
