Second GPU According to the instructions, packaging and website, it is possible to install a graphics card in the 2nd slot of the Asus Proart b550-creator mainboard. This is with reduced bandwidth (x8 instead of x16) and with reduced bandwidth on slot 1, but that would be fine. Unfortunately, the graphics card in slot 2 is not recognized. In Slot 1 and 3 both a single and 2 GPU's work, but that wont work for me because teh iommu Groups of the third slot are linked to the networkcard. Unfortunately there is no function in the bios to change the lanes of the slots manually/ I have not been able to find it yet. My CPU 9500x has enough lanes to handel x8/x8. The problem also persists with: different GPUs (970,3070ti, Arc A750) with and without SSD (should be connected directly to the Cpu anyway) Bios updated Bios reset another card (network) works in the slot because the Warranty expired 1 Month ago the darn Asus support leaves me hanging for at least two hours in their phone line. (stopped trying to reach them after 3h) Smile

I believe the next step is under Advanced > Onboard Devices Configuration > PCIEX16_1 Bandwidth and PCIEX16_2 Switch.

You're seeing everything fine on your physical system with the 5950x and 2x3090s working smoothly. The problem might be related to exporting to a virtual machine or if the guest OS isn't recognizing the second GPU.

Sure, I can only enable x8x4x4 Bifurcation, which is known to support certain PCIe connections for M.2 cards.

This approach seems to work, but when the GPU is placed in the second slot, the host system fails to recognize it.

This configuration applies only when you need to use a PCIe splitter to connect several devices in one port. It looks like the problem is mostly software-related, since a network card and GPU are functioning normally. What operating system are you running? How do you confirm it's working? You're likely using a Linux host, as you're exploring passthrough functionality—does it not appear at all in lspci? Are there any entries in your dmesg logs that might help?

Proxmox is running, but lspci and dmesg aren't able to identify it properly.

When both GPUs are installed, identify the width of your leading GPU. You can view this using lspci -vv in the LnkSta section. For instance, one example shows: 3c:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GA102 [GeForce RTX 3090] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) ... LnkCap: Port #0, Speed 16GT/s, Width x16... The rest of the details are listed there.

It seems the second GPU isn't working at all. Right now I can't restart my computer, so I'm not able to check the BIOS for help. I'm a bit desperate, but here are some thoughts: 1) Is your BIOS current? If yes, maybe try reverting to an older version just to see if it helps. 2) The second GPU is getting power and its fans are running. 3) You could attempt to downgrade the PCIe to version 3.0 in both ports as a test. 4) As a last resort, cover half of the pins on the first GPU slot so it only uses x8 lanes, leaving the other eight free—this might allow the second GPU to connect.

I recently updated the latest BIOS versions to 2024 and found them working well. Power issues aren’t present; the GPU functions properly in both slots, and it heats up when used. I experimented with different cards and only the second one required PCIe Gen 3. Taping the GPU is an intriguing concept, though I believe it would need to be secured to a wider x4 width. Perhaps I’ll try this approach next time.
