Another GPU model from Asus ProArt B550 creator series
After putting it on the back burner for a while, I finally tried taping the GPU. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. I also revisited older BIOS versions, going all the way back. Even the first BIOS version and every later one showed similar issues—more branching options disappearing as you go further into the past. I reached the support again, but after about two hours I gave up. Maybe there’s a way to contact support or send a message; it seems like reaching this support might be difficult for a mainboard aimed at creators and businesses. For a product targeting that audience, the quality is really lacking, especially since I’m now past the warranty period.
I secured contact with a technician at Asus using the MyAsus app, which guided me to an email ticket submission page without warranty coverage. We went through several points, and they confirmed a hardware issue on the board. Because it’s out of warranty after three months, the repair would have cost around 100–150€ plus shipping—effectively a financial loss. Fortunately, a compatible ASUS PRO WS-X570-ACE was found for 120€, missing only 2.5GB networking but otherwise ideal for my needs. After installation, I appreciated having multiple iommu groups and the ability to manage via ASUS Controll Center remotely. My main GPU finally got the support it needed, as this model is the only X570/B550 board supporting an x16/x8 configuration in slot 1_16 and 3_16. In short: the board failed, the replacement worked, and the support experience was disappointing despite courteous staff.
Great news about resolving your problem! Remember, the second position offers an x8 speed over PCIe 3.0 because it connects via a dedicated chipset mux. The connection to the CPU remains a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface.
