I noticed the temperatures matched between the stock wraith cooler and the CM 240L AIO, drawing cool air from the front, indicating a potentially more serious problem that standard cooling might not resolve completely.
It might be the monitoring tool you're using. Check what Ryzen Master displays.
I've tried it out, but it didn't really help. The model is NZXT H500i. It doesn't provide excellent airflow, though it's not terrible.
Ryzen Master delivers comparable outcomes, maintaining idle temps near 40-45°C, frequently jumping to 55-60°C unexpectedly. Testing with Prime95 and using RM monitoring revealed a peak of 92°C. Ryzen Master is currently fully updated, and I’m installing the latest chipset drivers.
The latest BIOS info is from July 22, 2019, and the chipset was installed on July 1, 2019. I just finished my build last Saturday, so everything's current. At 4+ GHz on the desktop with nothing doing, should I expect a temperature near 40°C? When using BIOS, the CPU temp usually stays around that range.
It's too tall for your setup. The Lian Li O11 Dynamic seems better suited for water cooling. You might need an air cooler like the AIO 240 or a compact model. Your CPU likely has about 150mm of space above it.
I check Ryzen Master for temperature readings. The actual core temp might be up to 10 degrees higher than shown. Ryzen Master is reliable. Monitoring tools are often faulty. With cpuz I see sometimes a 7GHz 3900X running at 40°C in water. Ryzen has many sensors and it displays the peak temperature, not the average. Voltage data is also consistent across platforms. For voltage, cpuz is the only one that gives accurate readings. I tested a 280AIO on a 3900 and it struggled to maintain performance. Your water temperature matters—at 90°C it should exceed 45°C. If your lines feel less stiff than usual, your readings could be off.
